A singer/songwriter hailing from South East London, Rhea began her musical journey drenched in the glorious sounds of early Jazz, Motown and Soul. Her parents were music fanatics; mods who’s priorities were love, music, classic cars and a passion for life. She began to write music from a young age, fusing the sonics from her earliest memories with her own ventures.
Early influences include the jazz greats such as Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday as well as Motown legends such as The Stylistics and Delphonics. Taking inspiration from this, Rhea’s voice is rich and soulful, flexing lush multi-tones that will instantly take you back to this era.
There is a timeless appeal to beautifully crafted songs, performed with soul, verve and above all honesty; Rhea is a singer & songwriter who clearly understands this power. “ I loved that these songs tell a story, the lyrics paint a picture…this is what I wanted to create, I want everyone to feel the music & relate to it.”
A songwriter in her own right, she has written for artists on labels including Universal, Warner Music Spain and Defected Records.
Growing up in South London, Rhea came from came from humble beginnings, Mother a teacher, Father a car dealer, growing up in London taught her to develop a unique drive and motivation. “My Dad was always hustling & he instilled in me that you can do anything you just got to be prepared to work hard for it.” So with a love of fashion, she set up a business reworking clothes from local charity shops and selling them at school, building a business from her locker.
She later moved to Spain and absorbed the culture, language and ever-thriving jazz scene. Many moons were spent scribbling on beaches till she felt it was time to come back and release adventurous, compelling music.
Rhea recently collaborated with Will Clarke and ‘Planets’ with newcomer IDRIS. Her debut solo EP is due for release in 2017.
"MUSIC HAS OPENED A NEW WORLD FOR ME, AND I'M THRILLED TO BE ABLE TO SHARE MY JOURNEY"
